I like the cover but I don’t think any of these recipes are going to be a hit with my family. It’s a bit hard to determine the number of servings. One of the recipes appears to be 2 servings and another one has “4 pounds of stewing chickens.” The Basic Vegetable Beef Soup has 2-1/2 pounds of stew meat but requires only 5 cups of liquid for the final step. The Taco soup recipe uses 10 cans of various beans and vegetables. The Easy Chili includes 2 pounds of hamburger and a large can of baked beans, a large can of tomato juice, and an unidentified-sized can of tomatoes. The most interesting recipe was the So Simple 24 Hour Soup using the slow cooker. The proportions seem more like stew than soup, but it does use mostly fresh vegetables, and I had never thought about making soup the day before in a crockpot.
I think many cooks would be more successful if they just put some broth in the pot and started adding their leftovers from the last few meals.
