Great video, but in what universe is Smirnoff a great vodka? I guess
everyone has their preferences; I tend to stick with Belvedere myself
though.

@jtiano Yeah BUT the MARTINI came from the name of the Vermouth, and that
would be nothing but MARTINI AND ROSSI’s Vermouth. Logic. I know that i
wasn’t THERE when IT happened but from a former professional service bar
bartender from LONDON that’s my opinion. I don’t make Martinis with
anything else. You want to use Gallo? You want Noilly Prat? You’re payin’

@Elmanfre Gallo is the brand of the dry vermouth. Smirnoff was the brand of
vodka. A martini consists of dry vermouth and vodka – so i don’t see what
your concern is? He is making a WET martini, so he doesn’t have to empty
the vermouth. What you are attempting to describe is a DRY martini. Also,
you can use any vodka, the choice is your’s, obviously a greygoose vodka
martini would be more expensive, but it doesn’t make it more of a martini.

Vodka replaced Gin in Martinis not in the 50′s rather beginning in 1962
when the Movie “Dr. No” came out showing Bond’s Smirnoff Vodka Martini
being shaken. In the fifties Vodka would’ve been associated with Russians
aka Communists.
