Oh boy,I never made a fruit cake before but,soaking it w/rum every 2 days
won’t make u drunk I don’t want anyone driving home drunk everyone needs to
go home afterwards!!!lol:-)I read a comment were u told someone white grape
juice that sounds good I’m going to try that!!!Also,I have a electric stove
is the temperature & baking time still going to be the same 250° in 2 1/2

Thank you for responding, Phyllis. My oven was at 250, and I know it is
accurate because on Thanksgiving I used an oven thermometer to check it.
In any event, I finally pulled it out and it looks great (not dried out)
and I can’t wait to try it, but I’ll wait the two weeks! Thanks for the
recipe for this beautiful cake!!
That looks great! You made it look simple and I’m going to try that for my
parents without the rum and just use honey or would it be too dry?

I’ve got mine in the oven right now and so far it has taken THREE hours at
250 degrees. Is this unusual? The top is bubbly and still wet. Am I
still on the right track? I just keeping adding more time in the oven.
(It sure smells good!)

pan.
I’m preparing mine now.. Started off with another recipe but seen yours.. I
soaked my fruit in rum so hopefully it won’t make much of a difference..

use,I never made one before,but I’ve been requested to make one for my
grandma this Christmas!!!I see u don’t put any alcohol nor juice like other
recipes call for to keep it moist or they said it will dry out!!!Do u have
to or is your recipe so moist that it do not need to be soaked

form brasilian buts to pecans like you but skip the chopping, I prefer big
chunks.

Fruit cake has been a tradition in my family forever too. And yes, some of
family are nuttier than fruitcakes as well =) We like to soak ours in rum
twice a year foir about three years before giving them away though!

this cake would keep for? English ones are “fed” with alcohol (usually
brandy) over a period of weeks and last for ages! Thanks again for all your

@bettyskitchen yeah, maybe i didnt pack it tightly enough. ill give it
another go with half a tsp of nutmeg (i do like the flavour of nutmeg, but
somehow this is too much for me. or maybe its just because i have the flu
and my taste is a bit weird at the moment anyway?! :P) thanks for the tip –
