I cant get molasses here so what can I use?
Hello! If you wondering where to get a cookie cutter here are some ideas!
Sketch out on dough first then bake,Or look in your local food cooking
store around the holidays (that’s when your going to fin them the most),
Find one off of ebay but don’t spend all your money they should be cheap
enough or make one out of metal ( With parent supervision if needed) like a
pie tin safely cutting it out! ^.^
One of our favorite cookies! Love this recipe, thanks for sharing Laura!
LOL for some reason the sad gingerbread man made me laugh so hard!
Made does and were awsome
Just saying you can get molasses at Walmart and walmart is everywhere
Is it possible to replace melases with honey?
I made this recipe, and I can tell you that the butter on the recipe is
wrong. The amount of butter is 1 1/2 sticks NOT 1 1/2 cups. And they came
out delicious, your home will smell like a candle shop. Makes 3 dozen.
You forgot to put a smile on the cookie you just decorated Laura
Ok my dough was very crumbly! I’m not sure what happend :-(
Could you use fancy molasses
Hi Laura.. Can i use a combi of butter n shortening here?
Ahhhhh !!!! She bite my head!!! Wait a minute, where’s my sound came from
…
good
Soft gingersnap recipe pleaseee :)
0.55 creepy laurahahaha
I have just baked them couple hours ago and they turned out great!
if u don’t have molasses what can be the substitute for the gingerbread man
cookies
Hi Laura you should really make a gingerbread house please!!!
can u substitute the molasses for syrup
I came here looking for a gingerbread cookie recipe and left in love with
this woman. You are gorgeous, Laura ;D
Hey Laura!
I have one question! I cannot find molasses in the country where I live, is
there a good alternative for it? Like honey, agave syrup or treacle?
Whats molasses?
What is molasses? I want to make these cookies just wanted to know what
molasses are..
Thanks so much, can you also do a ginger bread cake, my granny used to make
it when I was young, but I dnt remember how she did it.
I just made this – too much molasses, to the point of being bitter, and
zero flavor from the spices.
Not a good recipe at all.
A question about the buttercream frosting. I always have a hard time using
this on cookies because inevitably when they get stored or stacked in bags
to give away the frosting remains soft and smudges. Any tips for getting it
to dry solid like it does when you just use icing sugar and water? I do
like the taste of buttercream!
Dear Stephnaie I love all your recipes Can I use soft brown sugar
instead? If yes, the same grams? I was wondering if it’s more sweet than
the normal one. Thanks
awesome !! thank you very much, greetings from Argentina !!
Hi Stephanie! I really want to make this recipe for Christmas, but where I
live I can’t find molasses, so could I substitute it? Maybe with golden
syrup or honey? Thank you!
Is this easy to do with a hand mixer?
I’ve done this recipe at least 3 times and each time I find myself adding
almost 3/4 cup to 1 cup of extra flour because the dough is incredibly
sticky. I follow the recipe exactly except I use Crosby’s Fancy Molasses
(it’s the only molasses I could find). The cookies don’t taste bad but I’m
wondering what I’m doing wrong.
Stephanie,
At first I was a bit skeptical about these! I had never worked with
molasses and the smell was truly off putting. A mix between baby food and
oyster sauce perhaps? But I continued to try this. The batter didn’t smell
that great to me either. But I continued. I let the dough sit over night in
my fridge. I rolled it out and it smelled better to me then, milder.
Smelled very pumpkin-y. Baked them and my kitchen smelled so spicy and
delicious. Took them out of the oven, they were perfect. This recipe shall
be my go-to. Thank you!
thanks Stephanie!
Hi Stephanie, If I prefer these cookies to be less sweet, such as dropping
the sugar measurement for both the cookie dough and icing, would that
affect e.g. the cookie texture?
Hi i’ve got Classic Crude Black Strap Molasses. Is it the same? Its very
thick n dark almost black and the last time i made cookies with it they had
a very bitter after taste. And the dough turned out very dark too like
chocolate cookie dough.
Thank you Stephanie, i’m going to make these for Christmas!
Can I replace the unsulphured molasses with maple syrup / Golden syrup?
Please help, thanks(:
When I compared your recipe of apple pie with some others, it was
magnificent! I loved it and it tasted very professional in a way it was
like those I had in the restaurants…. Thanks!
About how much time did it took you for the batter to chill?
Nicely done, just made a big batch before watching your video…from old
roommate’s recipe, no egg & no nutmeg in his recipe, no refrigeration
either…but we put massive dough ball into frig now after watching your
video…thanks Maybe some jokes next time, Martha does!
What is the shelf life of the gingerbread man cookies? How about the
buttercream frosting? Thanks.
do u have to use melasis ?
Trying to kick-start your holiday season? The smell of fresh gingerbread
cookies is a sure way to spread holiday cheer.
Hi Stephanie, is there any limit to the size of the cutter you use i.e too
big, too small? Or do you just have to use your own judgement when it comes
to the size of your cut-out cookies and the 8-12 minute cooking time?
If I cannot find ground cloves, what can I subsitute? Pls advise thanks
Thank you Stephanie
I find it weird that Americans don’t use pepper in these. Here they are
actually called pepper cakes.
Not being funny Stephanie, but baking these cookies with my 2 nephews
trying help just seems.. pretty exhausting. There delicious though, next
time I’ll just bake them before the kids come round.
