I was very skeptical. I am not a vegetarian myself, and neither is my family. I was simply looking for a way to serve my family something a few nights a week that was healthier. My boys are four and six and appear to be falling into the chicken nugget world of daycare and a busy mommy. With children things need to appear familiar, and these worked. It is an excellent way to get children the fiber and nutrients that so many are missing out on in this fast paced world of backseat dinners. I made the Caribbean Portobello Burgers for my family. My boys didn’t even notice. It was very enjoyable knowing I could have a healthy meal with my family without the argument that so many parents face at the dinner table. It was quite enjoyable for myself as well, I intend to use examples from this book to try to better my own health as well. It is a must try for anyone, vegetarian or not, this book offers ideas that can be incorporated into any healthy diet plan.

This book has been an absolute lifesaver since my husband converted to veganism earlier this year. The wealth of choice is amazing and it gave me confidence that we could actually find some common ground in our eating habbits. His favourite is the Broccoli burger. I liked the way the preparation guidelines are laid out. They are simple and easily understandable to the layperson, which I definitely am! Also, the ingredients are cheap and easily sourced. None of this rare or hard to find stuff you find elsewhere. Will get a lot more use from this book in years to come I suspect.

When I changed my diet to Vegan, one of my friends asked me: “aren’t you going to be bored eating everyday just salads?”
But I didn’t plan to eat salads everyday, I knew at least 10 different vegan recipes, and 1 of them was of a tasty veggie burgers.
So you can imagine that finding this book with 101 different recipes for veggie burgers is like hitting the jackpot for me.
I tried so far just 5 recipes and I loved them all (Caribbean Portobello Burgers is my fav so far).

Here are 7 reasons why I love this book:

1. The ones I tried so far tasted better than the veggie burgers in the health store
2. There are 101 of them
3. The homemade burgers are much healthier
4. Making these burgers was way cheaper than buying the veggie burgers in the store
5. I don’t miss meat burgers anymore (Burgers were one of my biggest obstacles in becoming vegan)
6. All recipes are simple and are made of what I have anyway in my kitchen
7. I got compliments for the burgers I made for dinner last night (this one should probably be reason number one) from my parents. And they are not even vegetarians.

I marked about 30 more recipes that I’m going to try in the next few months.
Great book for anyone that likes good healthy food even if they are not vegan or vegetarian.
